The door of the dark, dank room creaks open, and outside lies a hallway. The hallway is only just wide enough for you to be able to move without bumping into the walls and deep enough for a couple of people to lie down in. It would seem that you were stuffed in a closet of some kind. It’s way too small for actual use. perfectly sized for a human being.
The hallway is only lit by the moonlight coming in through the cracks in the gated ceiling. The metalwork here is slapdash but effective. The ground is covered in a layer of dirt, but in some places the dirt is thin enough to see a slab of stone with a sliver of detail. A puzzle piece with no box to compare it to. At the end of the path are three doors, all bearing metal skull knockers.
The one to your left is a door that feels sturdy but dry. It’s covered in many layers of paint. The handle is an antique contraption from before keys became available for every door. The skull on the knocker is that of a rat.
Do you head into the rat door? YES
NO
The one right in front of you has a nice texture to it, as if canvas was stretched over metal. The handle is ornate but sharp. It’s covered in ornate, sharp scribbles like the edges of a frame. In the center is painted a horned skull with sharp teeth.
Do you head into the deer door? YES
NO
The one to your right is cold. It’s made of a thick hollow metal. There’s a square hole with wire covering it. You can’t see past a few feet. The handle is simple. There’s a strange box to the side, but it’s cracked open. The skull emblazoned on it is that of a bird.
Do you head into the eagle door? YES
NO
You sit down in the hallway, waiting for the sun to rise. It seems to only be getting darker. Maybe you misinterpreted things. You start to feel tired. A piece of paper lowers through the grate. You grab it. You can barely read it in this light.
“Click one of these or go back up to the top of the page and pick a door. I’ll make it easy for you. Just choose one of these three options. I even wrote down what they actually do.
You don’t know what that means. You try tapping the paper, but it is just paper. eventually you feel it come loose from whatever fishing wire was holding it up. You give up for now. At least the dirt holds your weary bones. You fall into a deep sleep.
